Don't we all want to be needed by someone, loved without being juged and not having to live up to the expectations of the people around us? That's the basis of their relationship. They need each other.
This is a wonderful story, I would recommend this manga to a mature female audience (definitely jousei, not shoujo). I don't know if I will read it again, because it is really long story - 82 relatively slow chapters telling you about her daily struggles over a three year period. But I wouldn't want to miss it either and wholeheartedly recommend it to you!
I have to say this manga really has a slow pace, especially the first half. There are moments when it is a bit too slow, but dont get discouraged. Our main character develops and grows over time and after about 60% the romance between the main characters starts to bud.
The story itself is mostly about Sumire and her daily struggles. She is a career-woman with some issues and lives together with her 'pet' Momo. She has a lot of issues, but nothing out of the ordinary. I think most people can relate to her problems, at least I can.
For more than half the manga there is absolutely no romance at all between the main characters. He does love her, though it's not clear when it started, but she is not able to love him in the same way and he himself isn't really ready. He has his own issues to overcome.
The relationship between Sumire and Momo is quite unique, but at the same time comforting. I can totally relate to her feelings.
